The Christmas spirit is building, and you can see the excitement in children’s faces. We’re busily practising for the Christmas concert next week. Mr. Kelly is recovering well after his recent operation and wishes us all the very best for the Christmas season.
A special word of thanks goes to Tom Murphy, who has recently retired after many hardworking years as Treasurer of our Board of Management. We wish him well in his retirement.

The school Christmas concerts will be held on Tuesday 17 th at 10.30am and Wednesday 18 th at 7.00pm in the new Community Centre. Tickets are still available from Anne in the office, with all proceeds going towards the school building fund. Thank You
Many thanks to the parents and community of Oylegate for supporting the school in recent fundraising activities. Christmas time is a very busy and expensive time for parents at the best of times and we are very grateful to you for buying the Christmas concert tickets and raffle lines, donating prizes for the raffle, as well as making the weekly contribution, when the economic climate is so bad. Hopefully 2014 will bring a long awaited new extension to be proud of.
Thank you to all the parents on the Parents Council for their continued support, for their assistance in running the Christmas concert and for providing tea and coffee during the interval. A special word of thanks goes to the Committee for all their hard work throughout the year. This school is blessed to have such dedicated parents.
Many thanks also to Declan Fortune for his recent maintenance work in the school.
Credit Union Art Competition
We have many budding artists in the school and to have five winners in the Credit Union Art Competition shows just how talented the Oylegate children are. Well done to Jack Freeman, Thomas Ryan, David Moulton, Gracie Kehoe and Karen Hayden. We are all very proud of you.
‘Sing Out Loud’ Concert
The sixth class girls participated in the ‘Sing Out Loud’ concert in the Wexford Opera House, where they sang on stage with many other schools from around the county. Congratulations to you all. Well done Ms. Cullen for all your hard work.
Debate Team
Congratulations to our very successful sixth class debate team who recently debated against Tombrack N.S. in the county semi-final. The motion was ‘Ryanair are the best to travel with’. Thank you to Eimear Rösler who donated her time to be an adjudicator. The team will debate in the county final after Christmas, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
New Arrivals
Congratulations to Ms. Breda Nolan and her husband Tom on the birth of their baby Cathal on 16 th October and to Mr. Niall Gilbane and his wife Maureen on the birth of their baby Peter on 7 th December.
